THIS WEEK—11th Annual FLHSMV Veterans Recognition Day
Friday, June 12th, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles celebrates our nation’s veterans each June, and the annual salute to our country’s men and women in uniform is quickly approaching. We are excited to announce that the keynote speaker will be Lt. Governor Jay Collins. He is a retired U.S. Army Green Beret. He served in the Army for over 23 years. During a 2007 deployment to Afghanistan, Collins was shot in the arm and helped perform surgery on himself in the middle of a firefight. Shortly after, he sustained severe injuries that eventually necessitated the amputation of his left leg years later. Remarkably, following his lower leg amputation, Collins requalified to remain a deployable Green Beret and served another five years on active duty before retiring as a First Sergeant in 2018. His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Soldier's Medal, and the Legion of Merit.
Please join us for the 11th Annual FLHSMV Veterans Recognition Day event on Friday, June 12th, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Kirkman Building. 2900 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL in Room B202. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you there.
