Today is Thanksgiving.
I want to personally thank YOU for continuing to serving your fellow Veterans long after you hung up the uniform.
You didnāt have to do this. Thereās no pay, and the hours are terrible.
You could have called it a day.
But you and I both know weāre cut from a different cloth. The call to serve our brothers and sisters is too strong. The need is too great.
There is a Hebrew wordā×Ö“× ÖµÖ¼Ö½× Ö“× (pronounced āhineniā)āthat literally means āHere I am.ā
But itās not casual. It is a profound, total response of availability, readiness, and surrender to a higher call.
In Jewish and Christian thought, āhineniā is not just āIām physically here.ā
It is āI am fully present, listening, and ready to do whatever is askedāno reservations.ā
That is what it means to be a Commander: true selflessness and total availability.
So today, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for our Veterans.
I pray you and your family have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
